This document is going around and I picked it up from Twitter about tire width and what tires people have right now,  if they will have to buy new tires, cost associated with buying new tires, category, name and license number So it got me thinking about the tires,  I really didn’t pay much attention because I was not going to race an UCI elite stuff this season but now I am thinking about it sooooooooo……

The tire width rule for cyclo-cross has been changed this year by the UCI as all of us cyclocross junkies already know. I am still curious why they chose 33MM?  Most tires are 32′s or 34′s with not a lot of 35′s and or 33′s.

I quickly looked up the tire size choices for the popular tubular tires

Challenge Grifos – Dugast Rhino/Typhoon – 34mm, 32mm, 30mm

Vittoria Evo – 32mm, 34mm

FMB- 28mm, 30mm, 32mm, 34mm

Tufo – 30mm, 32mm, 34mm

The difference between 34mm and 33mm is quite negliable ( see image below/ 2:1 Scale )
